About your Inspector
The home industry has been my passion for most of my life. It started with a father that built single family homes when I was growing up. Working as a "go-fer" and graduating up from manual labor (becoming intimately knowledgeable in the use of a shovel, as well as lifting, piling and stacking) to installing electrical devices, and interior and exterior finish work.
After college, with a BS degree in hand, (no....BS stands for Bachelor of Science), I started a career as a trainer, supervisor, and ultimately store manager for a Lumber Company. After years in this field and wishing to move back to the Central Wisconsin area, I moved to a national System-Built Home Manufacturing company that provided both custom homes; trusses, walls, and floor panels built to the customers own plan, and also premium modular homes. Here, I performed material estimating, purchasing, and supervision of a Team of sales, materials, and engineering associates. Like many of you that have witnessed extreme interest rates during economic down turns (early 1980's, and most recently 2008), the home building industry went through some very LEAN years. For a more stable future, I decided to make a change. The 2008 downturn allowed for a move to the commercial side with a career in the HVAC industry. Our company built commercial heating, cooling, and air movement products for hospitals, warehouses, schools, etc. As the Supervisor of Warehousing, Materials, and processes to move parts to the manufacturing lines when and where needed, I was intimately involved in SIX SIGMA and LEAN activities, as well as working closely with Purchasing and Inventory Control. Having involvement in all facets of the process was rewarding for me. Studying and learning a new part of the industry was challenging but I do love a challenge. Enter the Covid pandemic. My wife and I were both blessed to be working for great companies and with our employers allowing us to stay working and viable, working from home with slight changes to roles and responsibilities. Since we were not required to be in a brick-and-mortar building, this allowed us to sell our home and move to where we would like to eventually retire, the Wisconsin Northwoods. (Otherwise known as "Up Nort") I always knew I would be back working in some capacity with residential homes. For the last 17 years, starting in 2005, while still employed in Manufacturing, I studied and tested to become a member of InterNachi, the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. I have been taking continuing educational courses sine then to build on my experience in the industry and further my knowledge of building systems and a future career. The pandemic brought into focus that there is no better time than the present to start working for myself, in the career that I have ultimately been moving towards for the last 30 years, so here I am. I truly believe that there is a home for every person and an owner for every home. All homes are different, and all homeowners are as well. Those homes need up-keep and maintenance, so depending on the amount of TLC they have been given, they will be found in all types of conditions. Understanding the condition of the house, to determine if it can become your next home, is where I will be your guide. My years of building systems experience, my honesty, and my integrity, will find you the right home. Put your trust in someone with a passion for each and every home they inspect. |
